Dataskill Announces Agreement to Acquire Silicon Space
Transaction Will Broaden Company’s Leadership in Virtual Information Technology Teams and Outsourced Application Development

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dataskill, Inc., a leading virtual information technology, data management, and software agency firm, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Silicon Space, LLC. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the transaction, all Silicon Space employees will join the newly combined entity, doubling the size of Dataskill’s staff. Curt Nelson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Space, will also sit on Dataskill’s Advisory Board.

Based in San Diego, CA, Silicon Space is a leading provider of outsourced software product development and design services. The company specializes in the development of web-based software solutions and application integration, leveraging its “Global Delivery Platform” which is based on a hybrid staffing model. This model leverages on-site account management while leveraging offshore and no-shore resources (from Mexico) to optimize development costs.

Silicon Space is an ideal complement to Dataskill’s core business and focus on delivering back-end, data-centric solutions and services. Silicon Space is known for its expertise in developing front-end software applications services, including innovative Web 2.0 and social networking solutions. The company also has expertise in automated workflow solutions, high-volume web sites, and open source integration projects.

“What excites me most is that newly combined company is going to be a win-win for our customers,” said Nigel Hook, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dataskill. “Silicon Space brings a whole new set of skills and services to the table. The acquisition will provide us with an infusion of exceptional talent and a tightly knit team that we simply couldn’t go out and hire.”

“This acquisition is natural fit with and extension of the virtual IT solutions that Dataskill is delivering for clients today,” said Curt Nelson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Space. “Adding Silicon Space’s people and partners to the mix will expand Dataskill’s application development skills and allow the firm to deliver a broader range of solutions to our combined customer list.”

The acquisition will also broaden Dataskill’s existing focus on IBM and Oracle technologies. Customers will benefit from Silicon Space’s deep expertise in Microsoft technologies and platforms, such as Microsoft.Net.

“A majority of Dataskill’s and Silicon Space’s customers are based in Southern California and these customers will benefit from the acquisition,” said Kevin Carroll, San Diego’s Executive Director of the AeA, the nation’s largest technology trade association. “This represents an exciting new chapter for Dataskill. Two leading technology companies are combining forces, keeping its team in San Diego, and continuing to serve customers in the way that they know best.”
