Silicon Space Creates Online Solution Enabling Thousands of Union Bank of California Employees to Access Integrated IT Services
San Diego, CA – Under pressure to improve Information Technology (IT) processes, deliver projects on time to its business units, and maximize resource management, Union Bank of California (UBOC) engaged Silicon Space, Inc. in early 2000 to streamline the bank’s IT department processes.
Using a collaborative approach, SSI provided organizational structure consulting, worked with IT to clearly define its new processes, and leveraged its deep Web-technology expertise to map technology into the business. SSI then provided system design, coding, graphic design, usability, and deployment services to create Project Workflow Engine 1.0, a solution that provides an online, enterprise-wide, integrated IT project and request workflow that is accessed by over 8,000 bank employees. Project Workflow Engine 1.0 is also supported by a comprehensive set of streamlined processes and an internal information portal.
Via their secure corporate intranet, UBOC employees can now request, track, and manage both simple IT requests, such as pager access or printer repair, and complex, cross-functional projects, for example, design and deployment of new systems and applications. Since its release in November 2001 more than 1,600 requests and 200 projects have been initiated, saving UBOC substantial amounts of time and money while greatly improving customers’ perception of IT as a service provider.
