San Diego, CA – Improving the cost and quality of their products is a major concern of most firms, including Silicon Space client Hewlett-Packard. Since 1999 Silicon Space and HP have been working together to increase product development efficiency via web-based knowledge systems.

One system, the Electronic Qualification of Change (eQOC) is a web-based change management system that supports the request, routing, approval, and implementation of global engineering changes to HP’s inkjet printer products. Since its launch in 2000, the eQOC system has vastly improved HP's Change Order Management processes. It has continually grown in scope and importance, now spanning several HP R&D and manufacturing sites around the globe, supporting hundreds of projects and dozens of manufacturing lines.

"The new performance metric reports that are generated with eQOC provides our engineering managers with real-time insight into the timeliness of our approval processes. These reports have added tremendous value to our ISO 9001 certification process."
-- eQOC Business Champion

Another application, System Specification Design Database (S2D2), is a set of quality databases which was launched in 1999 and updated with additional features and functionality ever since. S2D2 organizes customer specifications and product provisions and allows the structuring of product linkages and system-wide process control plans. This allows product and process performance measures to be precisely reported, tracked, and connected.

“Together, eQOC and S2D2 maintain HP’s core business processes. They are used throughout the product development lifecycle and to increase product development efficiency and support our quality management system. We've been extremely satisfied with our results.”
-- HP Software Designer

Silicon Space is proud to continue to support HP’s ongoing efforts in improving quality and lowering costs.
